Jaden Smith mercilessly trolled after claiming that a hotel ‘spiked’ his pancakes with cheese

This is Jaden Smith, famous for being Will Smith’s son, a vegan and something of a philosopher on Twitter.

Jaden was staying at the Four Seasons Hotel in Toronto for a shoot with Cara Delevingne until, the other week, he had a life-threatening run in with a pancake.

But Jaden’s little rant didn’t have quite the impact he might have hoped for. Nobody rushed to his defence or expressed concern for his health. Instead, the Twitterverse accused him of acting like a spoiled brat.

In the end, the hotel joined in the trolling fest too, even getting a little publicity out of Jaden’s outburst:

To give the little fella the benefit of the doubt, it’s possible that he did actually ask for vegan pancakes but was brought ones with cheese on. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time that a vegan had their requests ignored by a restaurant. And by the looks of the photos, the ricotta is ingrained into the pancake, so it’s also possible that by the time Jaden realised what he was eating, it was too late.

That said, the ‘Infamy! Infamy! They’ve all got it in for me!’ drama-queen tone of his tweets is a little OTT.  And it undoubtedly perpetuates the idea that vegans and people with food allergies are a bunch of crybabies.

These types of reactions can end up being counterproductive, causing many establishments to write off such customers as being impossible – and therefore not even worth trying – to please.

Nonetheless, that doesn’t justify a situation in which a customer makes a specific food request (due to health, religious or ethical concerns) which is then disregarded by the waiter or chef.
