‘King of Instagram’ Dan Bilzerian slammed for Las Vegas shooting response

Put your money where your mouth is

Gun-toting, all-American, misogynist bro Dan Bilzerian – who has over 23 million followers on Instagram just for posting about his lavish life – has been criticised for his actions during the Las Vegas shooting on Sunday.

It’s #internationalwomensday be thankful

Balzerian found himself in the middle of the massacre that left 59 dead and hundreds injured. He was attending Route 91 Festival in Las vegas, USA, when 64-year-old gunman Stephen Paddock opened fire on concert-goers.

And while most people would be forgiven for running away from the scene to safety, many online users – and a Marine veteran – have slammed Balzerian for fleeing the scene, given that he has an extensive gun collection and often boasts about his ‘shooting skills’.

Like any true social media addict, the ‘King of Instagram’ immediately began filming at the time of the mass shooting. As he ran away, he said to the camera: ‘I’m headed back. I don’t think there’s much I can do. Trying to go grab a gun. I’m fucking headed back…. Saw a girl get shot in the face right next to me, her fucking brains hanging out.’

The now-deleted clip drew attention when Marine veteran and recent Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer wrote about it: ‘This is why children shouldn’t classify heroes by their followers or their photos…. Always playing ‘operator dress up’ and so so tough when the cameras are on. A woman just got shot in the head and you are running away filming…. Please stop trying to be someone your [sic] not.’

Happiness is a warm gun

It does feel strange to condemn someone for not fighting back during a terrorist attack, but with Balzerian, everyone is OK with it. Let’s remember that this man once boasted on Instagram about his extensive arms collection, saying: ‘My greatest fear is that someone will break in & I won’t be able to decide what gun to shoot them with.’

Bilzerian told PEOPLE magazine that he took the wounded girl next to him to hospital, and returned to the scene of the crime after picking up a gun, but by that time the situation was already controlled by authorities. These claims haven’t been verified.
